Above: Farming and agricultural production in Upstate New York is both
vast and varied. Over four consecutive evenings in early November I
photographed Steve Straight and his crew harvesting soybean crops with
his John Deere Turbo 5620 combine across several fields in the region.
Steve
is a cash crop farmer who rents approximately 500 acres a year with six
to seven landlords across several local townships. With an agricultural
degree from Alfred Tech Steve has been farming the region for more than
25 years. This particular soybean harvest was shipped overseas to
India. **The tree seen in a number of these images is a well known
landmark in the area, it was important to include it whenever possible.
