PUBLICATION: ENR’s Annual Top 600 Specialty Contractors Issue

Engineering News-Record (ENR), a McGraw Hill trade publication and e-zine, featured two of our photographs in their 2010 Top 600 Specialty Contractors issue.  Out of 12 photos supplied across the 600 featured contractors—two were ours!

PHOTO SHOOT: Agriculture—Fall Soybean Harvest

Above: Farming and agricultural production in Upstate New York is both vast and varied. Over four consecutive evenings in early November I photographed Steve Straight and his crew harvesting soybean crops with his John Deere Turbo 5620 combine across several fields in the region.

PHOTO SHOOT: Greater Rochester International Airport

Above: A jet plane lands on runway 10/28 at the Greater Rochester International Airport (GRIA). On a cold, windy day in early February we climbed the runway’s farthest East approach light tower and harnessed-in. The afternoon couldn’t have turned out better. Every jet and commuter plane was lining-up for this East-West runway. Each time a jet passed overhead the tower shook noticeably above the regular vibration we were experiencing in the face of 30 to 40 MPH sustained winds—challenging photo shoot conditions.

PHOTO SHOOT: Medina Ethanol Plant

Above: I trekked a quarter mile through a foot-and-a-half of snow on a bitter December evening to capture this angle of the plant. This image became my lead photograph for a panoramic formatted website slideshow I was developing. The Medina Ethanol Plant was the first ethanol plant to be constructed in the Northeastern United States. To view this entire post select “Read More”, below, or simply click on the post’s title.
